Summer meeting

Leon on archaeology
Leon on archaeology

Where else could you learn about subterranean archaeology in Ludlow, a history of the population census, and an introduction to reflexology all in the space of half an hour? Those were the topics of our three speakers tonight, Leon, Jill and Emily, who received excellent structured feedback from their evaluators plus more encouraging comments from the rest of the club.

After the break Lindy stepped up to deliver Table Topics and produced a range of fruit, vegetables and herbs from her garden and invited speakers to let their imagination run wild as they invented a story about the produce they were given. Visiting Toastmaster Kenny was our winner with a skilfully embroidered tale of a ghost of Ludlow cellars, a clever link to Leon’s speech, with a penchant for  borlotti beans. Guest Daniel made our mouths water with his description of strawberry and apple crumble, while Clara and Hilary evoked Scarborough Fair with their rosemary and thyme. Sam gave everyone commendations and a ‘nugget’ for improvement.
